Bucknell University has released the dean's list for outstanding academic achievement during the fall semester of the 2013-14 academic year. A student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a scale of 4.0 to receive dean's list recognition.

The following Colgate University students are recipients of the Dean's Award for academic excellence during the fall 2013 term at Colgate University. To be eligible for the Dean's Award, a Colgate student must achieve a minumum 3.30 average while enrolled in at least four courses.

SUNY Oneonta recently recognized students who achieved certification in the college's Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) program during the fall 2013 semester. LEAD@Oneonta is a comprehensive leadership program based on current research and guidelines from the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education.

The State University of New York at Geneseo has named 43 new Edgar Fellows for the current academic year. The college's Honors Program is named after the program's founder, William Edgar, distinguished teaching professor emeritus of philosophy. Students must exhibit a high level of motivation and academic accomplishment to be admitted to the program, which entails honors courses, research opportunities and close work with honors advisers. New SUNY Geneseo Edgar Fellows this fall semester from this area are:

A record number of SUNY Oneonta freshmen spent their first full day in Oneonta volunteering in the community. New students moved into their residence halls on Sunday, Aug. 25, and 202 of them participated in the college's sixth annual Freshman Service Day the next day.

Approximately 1,100 new students, selected from more than 12,000 applicants, began their studies at SUNY Oneonta this fall. Classes began on Wednesday, Aug. 28. The SUNY Oneonta Class of 2017 is exceptionally talented and diverse, said Roger Sullivan, the college's associate vice president for enrollment management. The freshman class has an average high school grade-point average of 91 and an average combined math and critical reading SAT score of 1135. Acceptances of AALANA (African American, Latino, Asian and Native American) students were up 11.3% this year, and for the first time, AALANA students accounted for 1 in 5 new freshmen and transfer students.
